Dr Celeste Cameron is used to working in a war zone. Danger is no stranger to her. On Celeste's return to America from Somalia after a particularly harrowing experience, Celeste meets Amy, her twin brother Josh's fianc�e. The two women don't exactly hit it off right away.

When Celeste and Amy begin to spend time together, it's apparent there is an attraction between them.The feelings Amy evokes in Celeste are far more dangerous to her well being than working in the war zone. Amy is beginning to feel the same, but is in complete denial. No matter how she feels, it may not be enough for her to cancel her wedding to Josh. So, what will the two women do?

This well written book is an absolute blockbuster. There is a little bit of everything in it. Humor, a touch of the supernatural, heartbreak, angst, yes, a lot of angst, but at the same time as it's heart aching, it's heart warming and gives out hope. It is also hot and sexy, steaming hot in fact. It's painful to read at times, but as soon as I thought, please, no more pain, I was actually laughing out loud. So, there is an excellent balance between the pain and the laughter.

The whole book is an intense and powerfully written masterpiece. Jackie Kennedy writes about extremely sensitive issues with sensitivity and understanding for the persons suffering .

This book is a real jewel in the crown of the lesbian fiction world, a true gem.

The two characters, Celeste and Amy are both multidimensional and are so obviously made for each other. They are true soul mates in every sense. Unfortunately, their lives are far from easy. There is a wonderful wealth of minor characters, some playing larger parts than others, but equally as engaging as Amy and Celeste and absolutely essential to the progression of the story. All of these characters are so outstanding, that I'm still thinking about them over a week after finishing the book.

Although this is a long book, I wanted more. I definitely want to know more about Celeste and Amy and their lives.

I don't say this often, but every now and then I read a book from a new author and I just know she will be a big hit. Jackie Kennedy is now on my to buy list for the future. This book is in my to be read again folder. Hopefully, very soon.

This touched me...

Wow... I had just finished reading " Til There Was You" by S Anne Gardner ( for the second time), when I came across this book ( smile). When I reviewed Til There ...You, I made references that it was short, with not much character development, but I loved it for the emotions. For it too was the story of an undeniable love...but Jackie Kennedy's "Denial" gives you the character development, the length is comfortable, and the writing is superb. Amy and Celeste are caught up in a situation that neither want but neither can really deny.
Ms. Kennedy, tells their story with laughter, tears and passion. Much much passion (smile). This was a very well written book, it will have you laughing out loud, on edge with anticipation, and weeping in empathy. The sub characters...engaging. The family element...endearing. The love between Amy and Celeste...all encompassing. I was touched... and when I'm not reading it over, I am listening to it with " text to speech" on my Kindle. Highly recommended. Can't wait for Ms. Kennedy's next story or another visit with Amy, Celeste and their family. William Blake: "Those who restrain desire do so because theirs is weak enough to be restrained."

Exceptionally Good

I read a lot in this genre and was extremely impressed with this writer. The story grabbed me from the start and never became predictable. It's well written, the lead characters feel very real, and the story seemed wholly unique for this genre. Oh, and there's really, really great sex and intense emotion.

I wouldn't pay a lot of attention to those reviewing the book based on their own rigid moral compass. If books were ranked based on moral standards for the lead characters some of the best literature in history would be considered garbage. Perfect people are perfectly boring. Real life is messy.

Fumiko has been practicing yoga for over 30 years. At the age of 36, after a terrible car accident, having a fear of aging and losing confidence in herself, Fumiko created a unique face exercise method; the Face Yoga Method. Previously a college teacher, Fumiko is the first person who advocated Facial Yoga in Japan. She is a best-selling author and TV celebrity in Japan and since 2006 Fumiko has produced face-firming tools, cosmetics and how-to books, and has her own facial yoga DVD. The results she found in her own face and those of her students speak for themselves. Fumiko's five books on face yoga have been translated into Chinese, Korean and Thai and sold in China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, Korea and Japan. She also has appeared on Korean TV shows. But it is the one on one interactions of a facial yoga class that are the most rewarding to Fumiko, helping students discover their most beautiful face and inner self. Frequently traveling, Fumiko splits her time between Japan and the US. Currently Fumiko lives in Sacramento, California with her husband Henry and daughter Nina. While taking care of her family as a wife and mother, Fumiko still finds the time to practice face excercises whenever and wherever possible. The best part of this book is the cover. There could have been far more time taken for the inside pictures and content. She does have a fun energy to her though. I would suggest just watching the videos she offers instead.

Updated Review of Thank You For Smoking

The main character is brash, seemingly without a conscience in that he will say anything, do anything, pretend anything to get his agenda across. The book is cynical, but overall is enjoyable to read. The main problem is that it's dated. We are placed in the fast-paced world of Washington lobbyists of three controversial "causes"--i.e. smoking, drinking, shooting (cigarettes, alcohol, guns), the language is hip, the people jaded. However, when the book was written in 1994, technology was quite different than it is today...no Facebook, Tweeting, Pinterest, smart phones, etc. So it definitely shows its age and as such, is dated without the eventual imprimatur of being quaint or retro. Give it another 20 years & this book may well be considered a "beloved classic." I included it as one of our books to discuss in my book discussion group & my sixth sense tells me it will be a lively discussion.

Christopher Buckley's novel is romp with excellent satire, but lacking in the area of a thriller. While I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wishes to attain a degree in political science, enjoys law and politics, or simply needs a good laugh, I would discourage anyone who desires a true thriller. While the mystery within the book is quickly wrapped up (more on the side of the reader than the characters), it is also introduced rather quickly, and is not the focus of the novel. I would have enjoyed more, but all decent things must come to an end.

I saw the movie 'Thank You For Smoking' years ago before I read the book. So from what I remember the book/movie are compatible and the movie helped me to put faces to the characters. I like the different and quirky premise of this book and the writing is OK and flows to make an engaging and funny book that showed a side of lobbying in DC I'd never known before including the gun & alcohol lobbies. I looked forward to reading ity every nite and will keep it on my bookshelf and read it again in the future. Also I want to see the movie again!
