Very helpful

I am a geriatric medical social worker and work very closely with dementia patients and their caregivers/families. This book is very helpful by providing information to help the family/caregiver to understand reasoning behind common behavioral problems and then provides tips to use to help lessen these behaviors. I appreciate the layout of this book in that specific behaviors are split into sections. It is fairly simplified but is much easier to read and use as a "go-to-guide" than the "36 Hour Day". I will be recommending this book to families and caregivers of patients with dementia in our practice.

Excellent for all stages of dementia

Information on dementia can be so wide spread and confusing. This books provides an easy to read and organized approach to exactly what its title states. As an RN and caretaker to my husband diagnosed with early dementia I am able to use this book as an excellent reference in both my professional and personal approach to people with this disease. In my personal inquiy about sex and dementia, I found little information on the web other than blogs. This book answered many of my questions to better cope with my own ever changing relationship. This is a "must have" book and guide for anyone facing dementia as a caretaker.

Well, I needed a text book. I do not if the problem lies with Amazon search or the seller. When I searched I put in the books title, edition, isbn number and copyright date. The book I recieved was 37 years old. Pretty much useless.

`The Great Powers and the European State System, 1814-1914� is a full analytical narrative of the functioning of the European states system over the nineteenth century between the fall of Napoleon in 1814 and the outbreak of the First World War just one hundred years later.

It examines the variety of devices, manoeuvres and feats of statesmanship by means of which decision-makers managed the interplay of their interests, common and conflicting �including the dangerous Eastern Question� without exposing Europe to the catastrophe of a general conflagration:

systems of active co-operation, such as the �Congress system� or the Concert of Europe
periods of �international anarchy� in which, if wars were endemic they were at least limited
the stabilizing effects of the predominance of conservative status quo Powers in the Bismarckian era
the dangerously polarised system that emerged on the eve of the First World War.

At nearly double the length of the first edition, this book is a very major revision and update. It includes not only the results of the latest research, but a body of additional information and a number of illuminating maps that will make the subject even more accessible to readers.

F.R. Bridge is Emeritus Professor of Diplomatic History, University of Leeds. His many publications include `The Habsburg Monarchy Among the Great Powers, 1815-1918� (1990).

In this groundbreaking work, film scholar Viola Shafik examines popular and commercial movies from Egypt's film industry, including a number of the biggest box-office hits widely distributed in Egypt and the Arab world. Turning a critical eye on a major player in Egyptian cultural life, Shafik examines these films against the backdrop of the country's overall socio-political development, from the emergence of the film industry in the 1930s, through the Nasser and Sadat eras, up to the era of globalization.

In unearthing the largely contradictory meanings conveyed by different films, Popular Egyptian Cinema examines a broad array of themes, from gender relations to feminism, Islamism and popular ideas about sexuality and morality. Focusing on representations of religious and ethnic minorities primarily Copts, Jews, and Nubians Shafik draws out issues such as the formation of the Egyptian nation, cinematic stereotyping, and political and social taboos. Shafik also considers pivotal genres, such as melodrama, realism, and action film, in relation to public debates over highbrow and lowbrow culture and in light of local and international film criticism.

VIOLA SHAFIK studied cinema in Hamburg and is a freelance film scholar and filmmaker. She has directed several documentaries, including The Lemon Tree (1993), which was awarded the prize for best documentary short at the Images of the Arab World Festival in 1993. She is also the author of Arab Cinema: History and Cultural Identity (AUC Press, 1998; revised edition, 2007).

Viola Shafik takes you into the cinema of Cairo, which has been one of the biggest producer of movies but has never, you realize when reading this, reached its full potential. Still for people who know so little about the topic, this is a great look at a culture and an industry.

Great pocket Bible, but they are NEVER to be sold. They are free from the Gideons.

Don't misunderstand; the free pocket Bibles from the Gideons are great little Bibles and are well made and attractive. However, I'm rating this product one star because Gideon Bibles plainly state they are NEVER to be sold. So don't buy one; get them at no charge from the Gideons. Someone is making money off a free product here, which is unethical. :(

I like this little bible

I like this little bible. Yes it is small but Im 59 and can read it. I used to be w/ Gideon's a few yrs ago and we paid about $1.38 for this same item so we could hand them out. I carried 5 or 6 at a time in a coffee can in my dump truck to give to my contractor friends. I understand the comment "not to be sold" but Gideon International sells them Gideon member people to give them away. I don't see a problem with Amazon selling these. If I want more I have to buy them from a Gideon member anyways. The Amazon price is about the same as what Gideon Int needs to make these great gifts of Gods Word. I just tell people, "The print is small but the message is bigger then you can imagine...just get your reading glasses and read this...I care about you."

C est parfois po�tique avec des descriptions balzaciennes la barbarie est pourtant d�crite minutieusement elle remue notre �me et nous secoue, �branle notre qui�tude nous touche bien profond�ment. Avec s�r�nit� et assurance on assiste avec conviction � la descente aux enfers de Georges. Comme un destin in�luctable r�sultat de toute guerre, de toute violence et de toute trag�die de toute incompr�hension et de l'aveuglement de la surdit� des conflits et de la violence. La guerre nous an�antis elle nous d�pouille de notre humanit� chalandon le peint avec talent.
