this is a very good book, especially for new believers

Actually, this is a very good book, especially for new believers. I got it primarily to learn about being filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking and praying in tongues. Andrew Wommack does a very good job explaining this. I was Born Again 35 years ago, but was taught very little about the Gifts of the Spirit, as I should have been, thus my purchase. I highly recommend this book!

Excellent Summary of Salvation and Baptism in the Holy Spirit

This is an excellent explanation of these two basic steps in the Christian walk. It covers all the basics, and explains why the baptism in the Holy Spirit is important in every believer's life. It also explains how to receive the baptism, and where water baptism fits into the picture. I ordered it because it is great for sharing, explaining very succinctly but thoroughly the things every believer needs to know.

A "Must Have" book for African scholars

This first English language translation of previously only German language editions for the life of General Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck is a very valuable addition to German military history and African studies. Lettow-Vorbeck was a man who participated in the China Relief expedition, the native uprisings in German Southwest Africa and, of course, the extended campaign in German East Africa where he commanded the Schutztruppe, a mixed force of German and native forces.

The preliminary material for the book is very worth reading-particularly Dr. Dohrenwend's Introduction as it gives a lot of information on the German military system. The illustrations are copied from the original German edition. The two illustrations on the back cover are from a private collection of pictures of East African Askaris (native German soldiers).

The book is printed on acid free paper and is Smythe sewn. A quality presentation and perfect volume for the library of those interested in African studies.

Wonderful story of an amazing history.

Riling Enterprises has done us a great service by reprinting (in such a clean and beautiful format) the General's auto-biography.
While most reprints are difficult to read almost xerox copied, this is a professionally printed and hard cover bound book, with exceptional photos added. And a lovely dust jacket!
The volume is a good read, and the African experiences even had me rooting (almost) for the Germans! His story of 1930s Germany and the rise of Hitler is very interesting, and gives a good perspective on that time.
Thanks for making a great book available again on the market.

About the Author
During and after college, Lee Matthias worked as a theater projectionist, theater manager, and film programmer; in public relations; and as a literary agent selling to publishers and producers. He has had a number of magazine articles, one novel, and two “movie-length tales” published, with others on the way. While he’s written several screenplays, so far, his screenwriting has only been optioned. Two heads are better than one, so he keeps a skull on his desk for inspiration (and a second opinion). He is married and the father of two daughters.

Write with your audience in mind indeed ...

EDIT: Gee, this has been a tough read in places but if you can get through the first chapters you get a better grip on your "writing mind" still motivated by the heart. 5 stars now.

I am not through reading Lateral Screenwriting. But let me tell you, i got the feeling there is pure gold in this book, if only it were so hard to keep an open mind about it. Be prepared that this is written in the most appalling, scientific language you might ever have encountered: Contrived sentences, high brow word usage, where a simple language would have done the job much better and much to complicated built up of arguments, instead of making statements, then explaining them. This is a tiring, tiring read and that's coming from me, who studied cultural sciences at universty, mind you. I can remember having written in a similar style like the author her and my professors hated me for it. And right they were!

Now about the content. This author knows his stuff for sure and there are new approaches here to learn. You can call it "lateral" or whatever you like, this is a book on "originality" and how to achieve it, how to be original. And even despite the language, despite only being so early in the book, i learned some very interesting possible approaches to "story", i am sure, there are more to come, once i am through with it.

For readers, i suggest, get yourself liters of coffee to go through this.
For the writer, i suggest, get yourself another editor, preferably a writer of highly emotional action thrillers. Your book lacks pace and smash cuts. Or simply. Write a another edition of the book entirely, that is less scientific and let this scientific one stand on its own.

Nevertheless: Highly recommended, if you have the patience.

This is a book that should be read by everyone studying the art of screenwriting. It is a fascinating book; the depth and breadth of this work is astonishing. In addition, Matthias' philosophical understanding of the process makes this book extremely interesting even if you are not a screenwriter, just an average film viewer.

This is a work that absolutely should be part of any film school's required reading.
